Swachh Bharat Abhiyan: “Clean India Mission”.
On the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, Lal Bahadur Shastri
Jayanti and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, St Peter’s School & College organized a
special programme on 2nd October to mark the birth anniversary of Mohandas
Karamchand Gandhi, (the Father of the Nation) and Lal Bahadur Shastri (an Indian
Independence Activist and a Statesman). The morning assembly was commenced in
the school quadrangle at 8:00 am by the students of class XI. Rev. Fr. John
Lobo, the manager of St. Peter’s School & College was cordially welcomed
with a bouquet of flowers. Then, Niharika introduced Gandhiji and his
philosophy of Non-violence, Truth and Peace. Vinayak briefed Lal Bahadur
Shastri and his focus an Economic Development and Maintaining Peace. Anandita
told about Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission) which was a dream of
Mahatma Gandhi.
This sacred ceremony began with a prayer by Aradhna
being followed by the pleasant rendition of Gandhiji’s one of the favourite
hymns “Raghupati Raghav Rajaram”.
Floral tribute was offered to the portraits of Mahatma
Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastriji by Rev. Fr. John Lobo, Rev. Sr. Susheela Remy,
Sir Ravi Shanker Srivastava, Ma’am Suman Tripathi and a few students from class
XI. Sinjal, Ritima, Antara, Yugank and Shubham delivered a speech highlighting
Gandhiji’s philosophy of truth, simplicity, non-violence and his ideals.
Shraddha delivered a speech on “Swachh Bharat Mission” which is a massive
nationwide campaign spreading the message of cleanliness.
Cleanliness drive was conducted reinforcing Gandhiji’s
slogan “Be clean & keep India clean” through an act titled “Ek Kadam
Swachhata ki Aur” (A step towards clean India).
The event aimed to inspire the younger generation to
strive for a peaceful and cleaner society in line with the legacy of Mahatma
Gandhi. At last all the teachers, office staff and a few senior students took
active part in the cleanliness drive and the programme ended with the National
Anthem.
