“Speak
up, Speak out: Debate Shapes Mind!”
St. Peter’s School & College hosted an
Inter-House Debate competition on August 23, 2025. The event was held in the
school hall and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students.
Participants were divided into two categories: Group B (Classes IX & X) and
Group A (Classes XI & XII), ensuring fair competition and appropriate level
of difficulty. The topics debated included- ‘Developed India is still a distant
dream’ for Group B (Classes IX & X) ‘Goodness is better than cleverness’
for group A (Classes XI & XII).
The Competition was fierce, with each house
participant presenting well researched arguments and counter arguments. The
Judges, Rev. Fr. Jacob Bona D’Souza and Rev. Sr. Susheela Remy judged the debaters
on the parameters - matter, delivery, diction, presentation and rebuttal. They
praised the debaters for their eloquence and critical thinking skills.
After a rigorous evaluation, the following emerged
as winners.
Group B (Classes IX & X):- Aayat Arif Khan (Blue
House) and Ambika Srivastava (Gold House)
secured the first position, Amit Vikram Singh (Blue House) secured the second
position and there was a tie for the third position between Mayra Sheikh (Green
House) and Riddham Srivastava (Gold House).
The best speaker for the motion was Amit Vikram
Singh (Blue House).
The best speaker against the motion was Aayat Arif
Khan (Blue House) and Ambika Srivastava (Gold House).
Group A (Classes XI & XII):- Pragya Singh (Green
House) secured the first position, Shaurya Mani Tiwari (Gold House) secured the
second position and Anshika Srivastava (Red House) the third position.
The best speaker for the motion was Pragya Singh
(Green House) and the best speaker against the motion was Shaurya Mani Tiwari
(Gold House).
Over all, the Debate competition was a great success
fostering a spirit of healthy competition, critical thinking and enhancing the
debating skills of all the debaters. This event served as a testament to the
School’s commitment to nurturing well rounded individuals capable of critical
thinking and effective communication.
